Miles sailed 7,896

The time has been confusing since we left Hawaii, but now the day is too. We crossed the International dateline and skipped over Jan. 30th. Superbowl Sunday, will actually be Monday....

I was a bit worried as we pulled into Pago Pago. Although the topography was stunning, there was a fishy smell in the air and also a good amount of noise emanating from the dock. Well worry not World Cruiser, the cruise ship dock shares space with cargo ships and the tuna canning plant (a main industry). Once away from the boat, Pago Pago is sure pretty….

The island is dominated by huge green, palm tree filled mountains. Living space is limited to the ocean flat lands. Most houses are moderate in size and range from hut to pretty nice (along the ocean). The air temperature was around 88F, but the steamy air brought it up to sauna hot; or purple-ish, if you go by my cheek color.

I opted out of the ship tour and hopped in a taxi. My driver took me for a ride around the island with stops for coconuts and a local lunch. Fun.

Although, I didn't venture very far into Apia, I managed to get a few good pictures... and checked the box.

Entering Pago Pago:

Welcoming party (I wish I could post the video because they were AWESOME)
